Mudra for weight gain

The causes of Underweight

There are a variety of reasons why a person may be underweight. Sometimes several underlying causes may be related. The causes of low weight are:

  • The family history Some people inherently have a low BMI due to the physical characteristics of their family.

  • A high metabolism If a person has a high metabolism, they can not gain much weight, even if they consume energy-rich foods.

  • Frequent physical activity. Athletes or people who do strenuous physical activities, such as runners can burn significant amounts of calories that result in weight loss.

  • Physical illness or chronic disease. Some diseases can cause nausea, vomiting and regular diarrhoea, which makes weight gain difficult. Other states can reduce a person's appetite so they do not want to eat. Examples include cancer, diabetes, thyroid and digestive disorders, such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.

  • Mental illness Poor mental health can affect a person's ability to eat, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. Each of these conditions can affect a person's body image and appetite.

Risk factors of being underweight

Low weight can cause health problems.

All people with low weight do not experience any unwanted side effects or low weight symptoms. However, in some people, the following symptoms of low weight occur:

Osteoporosis. According to a 2016 study, low weight increases the risk of osteoporosis in women, where bones are more fragile and susceptible to fractures.

Problems with the skin, hair or teeth. If a person does not get enough nutrients in their daily diet, it can cause physical symptoms such as thinning of the skin, hair loss, dryness or poor dental health.

Getting sick frequently If a person does not get enough energy from their diet to maintain a healthy weight, they may not have enough nutrients to fight infections. As a result, a person can get sick more often and common illnesses, such as colds, can last longer than normal.

Feeling tired all the time Calories are a measure of the energy that a given person's food can give. Not having enough calories to maintain a healthy weight can tire a person.

The anaemia A person with low weight is more likely to have a low blood count, called anaemia, which causes dizziness, headaches and fatigue.

Irregular periods. Women with low weight may not have regular menstruation, may notice menstrual periods or the first menstrual period may be delayed or absent. Irregular or missing menstruation can cause infertility.

Premature births According to a study published in an international obstetrics and gynaecology journal, pregnant and underweight women have an increased risk of preterm labour, which means they have a child 37 weeks ago.

Slow or slow growth Young people need nutrients to develop and develop healthy bones. Underweight and inadequate caloric intake can prevent a person from developing as expected. Doctors call this a "failure of growth."
