What is the nervous system?
The nervous system is a complex and sophisticated system that regulates and coordinates the activities of the body. It consists of two main departments, namely:
Central Nervous System. This includes the brain and spinal cord.
Peripheral nervous system. This includes all other neuronal elements, including peripheral nerves and autonomic nerves.

In addition to the brain and spinal cord, the main organs of the nervous system are:
eyes
ears
Sensory organs of taste.
Sensory organs of smell.
Sensory receptors in the skin, joints, muscles and other parts of the body
What are some disorders of the nervous system?
The nervous system is susceptible to various disorders. It can be damaged by the following:
trauma
infections
degeneration
Structural defects
tumours
Altered blood flow
Autoimmune diseases
Diseases of the nervous system.
Nervous system diseases may include:
Vascular disease, which causes cerebral attacks, transient ischemic attack (TIA), subarachnoid haemorrhage, subdural haemorrhage and hematomas, and extradural haemorrhage
Infections such as meningitis, encephalitis, polio, and epidural abscesses.
Structural problems such as brain or spinal cord injury, Bell's palsy, cervical spondylosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, brain or spinal cord tumours, peripheral neuropathy, and Guillain-Barré syndrome
Dysfunctions such as headache, epilepsy, dizziness and neuralgia
Degeneration, such as Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Huntington's chorea and Alzheimer's disease
Signs and symptoms of nervous system disorders.
The general signs and symptoms of nervous system disorder are as follows. However, each person may feel the symptoms differently. The symptoms can be:
- Persistent or sudden headache
- Change or other headaches.
- Loss of feeling or tingling
- Weakness or muscle loss
- Loss of vision or double vision.
- memory loss
- Altered mental performance
- Lack of coordination
- muscular stiffness
- Tremors and cramps.
- Back pain that radiates to the feet, toes, or other parts of the body
- Muscle loss and blurry language.
- New speech disorder (expression or understanding)
The symptoms of nervous system disorder can be similar to other health problems. Always contact your doctor for a diagnosis.
Mudra for nervous system disorders
The practice of Gyan mudra (Vayu-vardhak mudra) and Vata-kaarak mudra increases air element and Vata humor within the body.
The air element and vata humor empowers the mind, nervous system, and brain, facilitates movements of electrical impulses along nerves, pituitary gland, and the entire system if endocrine glands, muscles, both voluntary and involuntary.
The practice of Gyan mudra and Vaata-kaarak mudra is useful treat all the nervous disorders like:
Cerebral palsy, neuritis, neuropathies, Alzheimer's disease. Tabes dorsalis, Multiple sclerosis, Motor neuron disease, Ataxia, Dementias, Syringomyelia and also muscular disorders.

Join the tips of index finger and thumb finger to form Gyan mudra.
Vata-Kaarak mudra

How to do Vata-Kaarak mudra
Join the tips of the middle finger, index finger and thumb finger to form Vata-Kaarak mudra.
You have to do mudras with both the hands. Just a simple touch of the tips of the fingers is enough to get results of mudra practice.
Duration of mudra practice
45 minutes of regular practice or 15 minutes thrice a day.
Precautions
If you are a Vata excess person then do these mudras in moderation only.
