Other names of Castor


Ricinus communis, erandah, panchangula, erand, enanda, amanakku, amudamu, avanakku, haralu.

Roots, leaves, flowers, seed oil of castor is used in different Ayurvedic treatments.

Roots of castor are aphrodisiac, purgative, carminative, anthelmintic, galactagogue and expectorant.

Leaves of castor are diuretic, anthelmintic, and galactagogue.

Seeds of castor are digestive and aphrodisiac.

Seeds oil of castor is antipyretic and thermogenic.

Ayurvedic uses of Castor and how to use it.


Acitis and amoebiasis

Take a little root powder of castor and boil it in milk. Have this mixture every night before going to bed to regulate bowel movements and to stop blood and pus in the stools.

Gout and hernia

Castor seeds are helpful to get relief from gout pains. Take few castor seeds and crush it and add it to milk and take this mixture twice a day to get relief from gout. Have a rice diet along with this treatment is very much beneficial.

To get relief from a hernia continue this treatment for one month.

Eye care

Instilling few drops of castor oil in the eyes before going to sleep is a best practice for long eyelashes, lustrous eyes, and good vision. For night blindness, chewing the castor leaves is useful for improving eyesight.

Piles

Take few castor leaves and boil it in water after it becomes lukewarm pour it on pile masses to reduce pain and the pile masses themselves.

Drink a decoction of Triphala( harand, Amla, and vibheetaki) mixed with one teaspoon of castor oil to get relief from constipation and soften piles.

Aphrodisiac

The roots of Castor have taken in any form will enhance sexual power.

Sciatica and back pain

Take few castor seeds and crush it and add it to milk and take twice a day to lubricate joints and relieve pain in any form.

Colicky pain

Add a little castor oil to a decoction of liquorice and consume every three hours to subside the pain.

Jaundice

Take a teaspoon of castor root powder and mix it with a little honey and lick this paste twice a day to cleanse the system.

Vaginal douche

In pain during intercourse, or any vaginal or uterine diseases, soak a piece of cotton in castor oil and place in the vagina.

Cosmetic

Smearing castor oil over the body and head before a bath keep wrinkling, greying of hair and balding at bay.
