An involuntary and painful contraction of a voluntary muscle or a group of muscle known as a muscle cramp. In Ayurveda, this is called mamsagata roga.
Causes of muscle cramps:
Carrying our exercise much more than one's own capacity, indulgence in dry and rough food articles and taking some harmful medicine and insufficient diet may cause this attack.
If any metabolic waste which generally should be eliminated from the body does not get out and circulates in the body, it is likely to deposit between the nerve ending and muscle tissues. In Ayurveda, it is known as ama, which is responsible for the causation of cramps.
Cramps are also the indication of different other diseases.

Fasting, suppression of natural urges, anxiety, worry and anger are some of the principal causes of aggravation Vayu(gas). Hence they should be discouraged, and he should not sleep during day time.
