A skin infection. Erysipelas is dangerous and highly contagious but fortunately rare today.
The major symptoms are high fever and spreading inflammation, but complications include kidney failure and pneumonia, The disease is caused by a bacterium, streptococcus Antibiotics, especially the earliest of this class of drugs, the sulphonamides, can usually cure the infection though there is now a possibility that the bacteria have developed resistance to the more common drugs.
Also known as Visarpa is a disease characterised by diffuse inflammation of the skin or the subcutaneous cellular tissue attended with fever. When the disease is in a mild form there is simply
redness of the skin which feel hard and thickened on which small vesicles appear.
Ayurveda believes it to be the result of vitiation of all three doshas.
The Ayurveda medication for this is as follows:-
Kalagniruda Rasa 120 mg
Pipli Churna 120mg
Tobe gave thrice a day with honey.
Nimbadi Quath should be taken in a dose of 60mg. Once in morning. All precautions must be taken as described in other fevers.
