Other names of Fenugreek

Trigonella foenum, Methika, Methi, Ventayam, Menthulu, Uluva, Mentya.

Leaves and seeds of Fenugreek are used in many Ayurvedic treatments.

Leaves of Fenugreek are refrigerant, aperient.

Seeds of Fenugreek are mucilaginous, aromatic, carminative, tonic, galactagogue, astringent, and an aphrodisiac.

Griping abdominal pain

Take a teaspoonful of fenugreek seeds and powdered it, then it is mixed it in one glass of buttermilk will help in digestion and relief pain.

Flatulence

Take a little fenugreek and crush it and add little rock salt will give quick relief from flatulence.

Piles and Oral ulcers

Eating fenugreek leaves curry every day will give relief prom piles and oral ulcers.

Eruptive fevers

Drinking plenty of fenugreek water during the early stages of smallpox, chicken pox or measles gives quick relief.

One teaspoon of the seeds is soaked in a pint of water overnight to prepare fenugreek water. The alkaloid trigonelline in fenugreek is antiseptic and carminative.

Dandruff

Take two teaspoons of fenugreek seeds and soaked it in water overnight. Next day morning it is ground and apply on the scalp and wait for half an hour then wash it. This treatment will help to get rid of dandruff.

Eczema

After washing the lesions with a solution of tea and rock salt, the part is dried and covered with a dilute paste of fenugreek and red sandal.

Clean skin

To get clean skin and replace harming soap you may use a mixture of green gram, Bengalgram and fenugreek seeds.

Shampoo

A mixture of shikakai, green gram and fenugreek seeds in proportions of 2:1: 1/2 are powdered together and used with water as a shampoo.

Joint stiffness

Take one teaspoon of fenugreek seed powder and add it in one glass of hot water. Drink this frequently to get relief from the tightness of the joints.

White vaginal discharge

Fenugreek powder mixed with curds is effective in preventing infections. The same recipe is a useful remedy for diarrhea.

Post delivery

Fry fenugreek seeds in ghee and finely powder them. Mix this in wheat flour and sugar and make a halwa like preparation. This is proved to normalize a woman's system after delivery. One tablespoon every day.

Heart problems

Drink fenugreek boiled water every day is a good tonic for heart.

Body Coolant and tonic

Rice starch water with a teaspoon of fenugreek powder is an excellent body coolant.
