Other names of Coriander

Coriandrum sativum, Dhanyakam, Dhaniya, Dhane, Kottamalli, Dhaniyallu, Kottampala and Kottambri.

Fruits and leaves of coriandrum are used in various Ayurvedic treatments. Leaves of coriandrum are aromatic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory. Fruits of coriandrum are aromatic, digestive, carminative, styptic, anti-inflammatory and anthelmintic.

Excessive Thirst 

Take few pasted coriander seeds and soak it in some water for one or two hours. Add little sugar and honey to this water to quench long-standing thirst.

 Burning sensation

Prepare the coriander water like above and add the only sugar. Have this solution to relieve burning sensation either on the body or passing urine.

 Jaundice

Take two teaspoons of coriander seeds, two teaspoons of white cumin seeds and mix it in one litter water. Cover this mixture for overnight. On the next day, take a glass of this infusion twice a day after sweetening it with some palm candy. Repeat this for a couple of weeks untile the urine color returns to normal.

r Tea For Fever

Make coriander tea with coriander decoction and little milk and sugar. This helps to sweat and brings down the temperature.

 For Gout

Take equal quantities of coriander and cumin seed powder andsufficient amount of jaggery to it to make a confectionery. Make small balls from it and eat one ball thrice a day to get relief from the pain in gout.

Indigestion and colic pain

Make a decoction from coriander seeds and dry ginger. Consume this thrice a day to stimulate digestion and relieve pain.

A cough and breathing difficulty

Take one teaspoon of coriander powder and saunph mix it in one glass of rice wash. This mixture helps to relieve a cough and difficulty in breathing especially in children.

Pregnancy 

Giving coriander decoction to the pregnant woman from the fifth month onwards improves flow of urine and prevents oedema or swelling of the feet,
