Surya also known as Prithvi-shamak mudra or Agni-vardha helps in increasing the Agni element in the body while decreasing the earth element. Earth element is a primary element of fat that cause obesity or becoming overweight hence reducing it will help in the reduction of weight. It is known as the best mudras to lose weight and boosts the function of the thyroid glands.

Surya Mudra helps in treating various diseases:

How to do the Surya Mudra

·         You can either do this sitting or standing up.
·         Hold your hands in front of you.
·         Bend each of your ring fingers, on both hands, in such a way that the tip touches the base of your thumb.
·         Press down your thumb on your ring finger
·         Make sure that the rest of the fingers are spread out and straight.
·         Leave it in that position for a few minutes.

Just like the Prithvi mudra, it can also be performed anytime of the day. It can be done for about 30-45 minutes each day. You can perform it by either doing it continuously for 30-45 minutes or in 3 parts like 10-15 minutes, 3x a day. Just a word of precaution though, over usage of this type of mudra may result in undue heating of your body so make sure that you do it in moderation.
