Every human being feels anxious now and then. It’s quite a healthy emotion. Most people feel nervous when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or making important decisions.
Anxiety disorders are different, though. They may cause such distress that it interferes with our ability to lead a normal life.
This type of disorder is a severe mental illness. For people who have one, worry and fear are constant and overwhelming, and can be disabling. But with treatment, many people can manage those feelings and get back to a fulfilling life.
Hand Mudras For Anxiety
If you know me well, you will know that one of my favorite practices is working with hand mudras. These are hand mudras that heal the body.
This picture is the Kalesvara Mudra. This hand mudra allows you to shape and control the mind. Its principal benefit is to calm anxieties, but it is also known to heal addictions or unwanted character traits. It also improves memory and concentration. As when practicing all mudras, it helps to set a positive intention at the onset or during the time practicing the mudra.
How to do this hand mudra: The pads of the middle fingers touch each other and extend, as do the pads of the thumbs. Curl the index, ring and pinky fingers in towards the palm of the hand and connect these fingers from the joint to the tips. Point the thumbs towards your chest with your elbows out to the side.
