Important Anti-oxidants and its sources

Antioxidants are compounds that neutralize free radicals by giving them the necessary electron they crave. It is useful to prevent premature ageing  and improve health and vitality.

Vitamin C

It is a well-known antioxidant, and it helps minimize free radical damage to the neurological system. It also helps in protecting other anti-oxidants in the body, like vitamin-E. It is useful in multi-purposely. It neutralizes free radicals, detoxifies the body, reduces hipper tension, lowers cholesterol levels, and fights cancer.

Vitamin A and Beta-carotene

Both of these are powerful free-radical scavengers that help the skin, mucous membranes, circulatory system, and cholesterol levels. Particularly beta-carotene is very effective in neutralizing the single oxygen-free radical.

Vitamin E

It prevents the oxidation of lipids(fats) in cell membranes; that strengthens the outer cell layers against free radical attacks. It works best in the combination of selenium, another antioxidant, increases the circulatory system and fights cancer, oxygen absorption, and has a role in preventing cataracts.

Lycopene

We all know that antioxidants are the significant part of the necessary nutrients we need to support our health. Lycopene is an antioxidant that we recently understood. It is found in tomatoes. It is the substance that gives tomatoes their red color and, like beta-carotene, is a member of the carotene family.

Coffee

Brewed coffee seems to create hundreds 0of new chemicals that appears to have antioxidant qualities. Each chemical is present in only small amounts, but when you took together in a cup of coffee, they will add up to have about the same antioxidant effect as three oranges.

Selenium

It is useful in the fight against free radicals; that contribute to premature ageing, among other things. Selenium is available in plenty in seafood, grains, muscle meats, and Brazile nuts.

Zinc

Zinc is helpful has an antioxidant that protect your body. Zinc is required to maintain adequate levels of vitamins E and A. It is also an essential ingredient in the antioxidant enzyme called superoxide dismutase(SOD).

Other Plant sources

Bilberry, Ginkgo biloba, and garlic are other very stro0ng antioxidants. Bilberry useful in eliminating free radicals from capillary walls and red blood cells; It is also helpful in reducing arthritis.

Ginkgo Bilbo is popular in its ability to improve memory, partly because it contains antioxidants that scavenge free radicals and boost the effectiveness of vitamin C.  It also useful in improving blood circulation, heart conditions, and neurological disorders like Alzheimer's disease.

Garlic is also known as wonder drug; it contains antioxidants in large qauntity, vitamin A, vitamin C, Carotene, and selenium and boosts the levels of antioxidant enzymes in the blood stream. Consuming a couple of cloves of garlic may keep your friends away but they help to protect the neurons from damage.

Green tea also contains a variety of antioxidants, including catechin, and is known to lower cholesterol levels and reduce blood clotting. Is it a wonder that the Japanese, who consume so much of green tea, are so brainy?
