Beal has many health benefits. In Ayurveda treatments, the roots, leaves and unripe fruits of bael are widely used.

Bael roots are astringent, febrifuge. It's leaves are astringent, laxative, febrifuge and expectorant.

Unripe fruits of bael are astringent, digestive stomachic, and it's ripe fruits are astringent, aromatic, cooling, febrifuge, laxative and tonic) for the heart and brain)

How to use Bael

Piles

Take a bael piece of bael fruit and make a decoction. The patient should sit a basin filled with the lukewarm decoction such that the pile masses are immersed in it. Do this every day for twenty to thirty minutes and watch the astringent Bael gradually shrink the pile masses.

Dysentery and diarrhoea

Make a paste from the pulp of an unripe bael fruit with a few sesame seeds and mix some thick yogurt in it. Have this preparation twice a day to arrest mucous and blood accompanied loose stools.

Blood-accompanied stools

Mix the powder of the dry pulp of bael fruit with some saunph seeds and honey and drink two teaspoons of this mixture with some rice wash.

Foul body odour

Apply the juice of the fresh leaves of bael fruit all over the body every day to prevent unpleasant odour emitting from the body. The astringent nature of the juice closes sweat pores prevents excessive perspiration causing the foul smell.

Vomiting

Make a decoction of bael roots and drink it with a teaspoon of honey to suppress vomiting.

Bleeding piles

Take a mixture of the pulp of bael fruit with a glass of butter milk for relief from bleeding piles.

Swelling

Whether of the feet or any of the body, swellings can be helped by taking half a glass of the juice of bael leaves with the powder of a few black pepper.

Colic pains

In pains due to undigested food material, take the powder of the dry pulp of bael fruit with a little jaggery for digestion and to subside the pain.

Typhoid and seasonal fevers

Take a teaspoon of powder o9f the dry pulp of bael fruit to bring down the temperature.

Decomposing wounds

Paste the leaves without adding water. Apply this on wounds with are pus-oozing with great benefit.
