Alternative Medicine For Pile (Ayurveda)

In Ayurveda, this is called Arsha.Piles or haemorrhoids consist of a varicose and often inflamed condition of the veins about the lower end of the veins about the bottom end of the bowel.The situation arises when the veins in the anal region become varicose.The prime cause of piles is constipation, the other being, as the sedentary way of the life, lack of exercise and some abnormal conditions of the liver.

Piles is two types:
1.Dry, in which there is inflammation of the external piles and pain, which may continue all the time becoming unbearable at the time of voiding the bowels; and
2.Bleeding piles, in which the internal piles start bleeding piles, the drug is Nagakesara(mesua ferra).The powder of the flower of this plant should be administered to the patient in one teaspoonful doses thrice daily.Haritaki(Terminalia chebula) is recommended for the malady in which there is bleeding,as well as inflammation and pain.One teaspoonful given two to three times a day with milk is sure to relieve the condition. Chirabilvadikashay,Lavanottamadi Churna,Samashara Churna,Nagkesh arayoga and Samangadi Churna are some of the other standard Ayurvedic remedies.

Sushruta has recommended surgery for curing the piles, but Charaka, the physician, has advised drug therapy.If piles are neglected for a long time.it may lead to prolapse rectum(when the rectum protrudes out of its casing),Impotence, proctitis and haemorrhage.
Excessive bleeding from the piles in some cases may lead to death due to loss the vital fluid.
The patient should be advised not to use a hard seat or ride bike etc. during the treatment.He should not indulge in sex, nor suppress the urge to void the stools for fear of pain which is attendant in case of dry piles. His food should consist of diets that are easily digestible.Goat's milk is also helpful in this condition.
