Ayurveda describes ulcer as a breach on the surface of the skin or on the membrane lining any cavity, such as the stomach, which does not tend to heal quickly. The destruction of tissue and the cavity so formed is the term applied to ulcers. The process of formation of an ulcer in the stomach-known as a peptic ulcer-the result of hyperacidity- the presence of too much acid in the stomach. Stress worry is supposed to be caused, Only those persons who are afflicted with a vatiya type or constitution or in whom vata is the predominant dosha are prone to ulcers of the stomach.

Symptoms of peptic ulcer

Gnawing pain in the abdomen, a burning sensation occurs between meals or in the early hour of the morning. The irritations may lead to few minutes to few hours. Sharp and severe pain and discomfort in the upper central abdomen. As the disease progress, there is distension of the stomach due to excessive flatulence, besides mental tension, insomnia and gradual weakening of the body. In some cases, there is constipation and occasional blood in the stool. This is the major symptoms of peptic ulcer.

Ayurveda treatment for peptic ulcer

Ayurvedic medicine in gastric ulcers is the Sukumara Ghrita. It should be administered in the doses of two teaspoonfuls on an empty stomach with warm milk.
The pain of the ulcer is best dealt with another Ayurvedic preparation-Shankha Bhasma. In the case of excruciating pain,Maha shanka vati should be given.

Natural remedies and Home remedies for stomach ulcers

Bananas are a very good natural remedy for peptic ulcer. Bananas are neutralizing the overactivity of gastric juices by coating the lining of the stomach. In severe conditions of peptic ulcer, a diet of milk and banana gives big relief.

Goat's milk is an effective home remedy for peptic ulcer.

Almond milk is another effective natural remedy for an ulcer in the stomach. It binds the excess of acid in the stomach and supplies high-quality protein.

Raw Cabbage juice or eating fresh cabbage is a wonderful home remedy. An ulcer can be healed with two weeks if you use daily raw cabbage juice. When you cook it cabbage loses its natural healing power.

Carrot juice is another effective natural remedy for an ulcer in the stomach.

Drinking plenty of water is another way of natural healing.

Juices of Apricot, Grapes, cabbage, and carrot are useful in the treatment of stomach ulcers. At least one-week juice fasting is needed to get good results.

If you are in a juice fasting, then you have to take these juices in every three hours. You may take juices five to six times a day. 300 ml of water with 30 grams of honey may be taken the first thing in the morning on arising. After that, the prescribed juice may be taken at three-hourly intervals. The quantity of juice on each time should be 300 ml, and you can increase it to 600 ml gradually. The juice fasting may continue up to forty days without any ill-effects. You should take adequate rest during the raw juice fasting.




Diet cure for peptic ulcer


Eat lot of vegetables,eat high fiber diet consisting of whole grains,include fruits and vegetable in your diet,Avoid high fat milk and cheese. Garlic is wonderful remedy for peptic ulcer as it has antibiotic properties.Avoid red meat,colas,sugar and processed foods.

In addition to the diet prescribed above, the patient must be advised to keep himself free from worry and the stresses of life which are likely to exacerbate the ulcer. He must take sufficient rest and sleep for an hour or so during the day. His bowel movement must be ensured because constipation only contributes to the worsening of the condition.
