Yoga treatment for diabetes mellitus

Yoga poses do not cure diabetes in the strict sense of the word. Some poses activate the thyroid glands. Some, by flexing the spine, stimulate nerve impulses to the pancreas, some massage the pancreas, while others affect the whole metabolism in manner as to provide the healing energies of fresh circulation to the pancreas.

Most diseases of the nose and throat are caused by the accumulation of impurities in the nasal passage. Jalaneti cleanses the air passage of nostrils and the throat by washing them with tepid saline water.

Yoga kriyas like Jalneti and kapalbhati, yoga poses like shoulder-stand pose, Cobra pose, Locust pose, Bow- pose, Posterior-stretching pose, Ardhamatsyendrasana, Gas- releasing pose. Vajrasana and Shavasana are very beneficial in the treatment of diabetes mellitus.

hypertensions or high blood pressure is a serious health problem that my lead to many critical situations. The fast pace of life and the mental and physical pressures caused by the industrial and metropolitan environments give rise to psychological tensions. worry and mental tension increase the adrenaline in the blood stream and this, in turn, causes the pressure of the blood to rise.

Exercise and yoga exercises plays an important role in curing high blood pressure. Walking is the best physical exercise to control hypertension. It helps to relieve tension, builds up the muscles and aids in the circulation of blood.  As the blood pressure shows signs of abating, more exercise like bicycling, swimming, jogging should be taken.

Yogic asanas Yogic asanas such as surya namaskar, makarasana,matsyasana, vajrasana, ardpadmasana, Pavanmuktasana, shavasana and simple pranayama like anuloma-viloma and abdominal breathing are benficial. al the poses should, however, be discontinued except shavasana if the blood pressure is above 200 millimeters.
