Should I go to the dentist?
Many people find going to the dentist to be an annoying, frustrating and even painful process. They wait for hours only to see the dentist for 10 minutes. Or other times they spend hours with the dentist in excruciating pain. There’s no middle ground. People in our society live busy lives; it’s easy to have dentist visits fall to the bottom of the priority list. It’s hard to force yourself to see a dentist Kitchener-waterloo when there are so many nice things to do there.
However dentist visits are quite important and should be taken seriously. The main reason for going to the dentist regularly is they can inspects aspects of your teeth and mouth health that you can’t yourself. Problems in your mouth can build up slowly over time; if you visit your dentist regularly you can catch them before they develop into full-blown problems. Here are some more reasons for making time in your schedule for the dentist.
The first and most crucial thing that happens at the dentist office is you are checked for cavities. Cavities can be hard to notice, especially when they are first developed. You will also be checked for plaque and tartar build up. If you have tartar you won’t be able to remove it just by brushing more. Tartar is a very hard substance that you need your dentist to help you with.
The next reason you need to go to the dentist on a regular basis is to have your gums checked. The dentist will check your gums with a special tool that measures spaces between your gums and teeth. When you have gum diseases or infections the size of these spaces are affected. Something as simple as this can be a early warning size of mouth cancer or another serious disease.
Another reason to go to the dentist is for the scaling process. Scaling is when the dentist scrapes your teeth with a special tool to remove tartar. This is something you can’t do at home because tart is extremely solid. After you teeth are scaled the dentist will also clean and polish them. This serves as a base cleaning to provide a healthy foundation for your teeth. Cleaning your teeth in between going to the dentist will be easier when you have this base cleaning to work with.
So, going to the dentist is important for a few reasons. It’s important to get tartar removed from your teeth, which you can’t do at home. You also need to have your gums regularly checked and make sure they are healthy. Don’t neglect your mouth health! Your dentist will help you stay on top of keeping your mouth and teeth healthy.
