The whole plant of Hogweed is used in different Ayurvedic treatments. It is cooling, anthelmintic, astringent, diuretic, aphrodisiac, cardiac stimulant, diaphoretic, emetic, expectorant, anti-inflammatory, febrifuge, laxative, and tonic.
Ayurvedic health benefits and uses of Hogweed
Swellings
Hogweed is useful to treat the swelling due to kidney or heart disease. It gives a remarkable decrease in swelling of the hands, feet, face or the entire body. Make a decoction of roots or whole plant of Hogweed. Take it twice a day to increase urine output and reduction of swelling.
Diuretic and aphrodisiac
Hogweed is helpful to remove obstruction of urination and is cooling to the system. It is, therefore, useful in cases of dysuria, discoloured urinary stones, burning urination apart from serving as a tonic to the urinogenital system.
Hard unripe abscesses
Take the white variety of Hogweed and make a decoction from it. Have it twice a day to bring the abscess to ripening so as ti facilitate draining of pus.
Skin disorders
Make a paste from the root with the floating water on yogurt and apply odiscoloredor flaky skin patches to get quick healing.
Fevers
Ta a teaspoon of the dried and powdered hogweed roots with the warm milk or warm water twice a day to decrease temperature especially those accompanied with burning sensation.
Eye disorders
Hogweed is useful in different ways in treating eye diseases. Just pasting it with various substances and instilling a few drops in the eyes every day.
1. Itching -with milk.
2. In constant watering and other discharges -with honey
3. In unsteady vision and whitish patches on the cornea- with ghee
4. In immature cataract- with oil.
5. In night blindness- with rice wash.
Rheumatic disorders
Hogweed using in your daily diet will help to remove constipation, promotes urination, and reduces swelling and pain.
