How it works
The ring finger symbolizes the earth element while the little finger is the water or Jal element. This combination of water and earth form the Kapha humor which when this mudra is performed will increase it.
The Kapha humor is said to play an important role in providing strength, immunity and stamina to the body. Also with the reduction of the Pita humor, it helps in controlling body temperature.
· This mudra should be done while you are sitting down in a meditative posture like the Lotus pose. However, there are times that you can also do this standing straight up in the Mountain pose.
· Keep the eyes closed and focus yourself on your breathing
· Bring both your hands on your sides
· Touch the tips of the little finger and ring finger on your thumb. Take note that the middle finger and index finger must be pointed in a straight position.
· Do this for about 15-30 minutes. You can feel the life force enter your body.
Just like other mudras, it can also be performed anytime of the day. It can be done for about 45 minutes each day. You can perform it by either doing it continuously for 30-45 minutes or in 3 parts like 10-15 minutes, 3x a day. If you are an overweight person, make sure that you do this mudra in moderation.
