Articles on Obesity(Ayurveda)

Are you one of those who must always worry about your weight? Is it hard to maintain a normal figure?then this post is for you
Two thousand five hundred years age Hippocrates,"the father of medicine,"and a very keen observer, noted that "fat men die suddenly!" This is still true. Not in every case,of course,bu sudden death occurs so often in fat people that doctors must raise a note of warning.Especially is this true in people who are sluggish and steadily gaining weight. In other words, the longer your waist, the Short your life line! Yes,it is very important to watch your weight, not allowing yourself to become too thin or too fat,but trying to remain near the ideal.

Most youngsters in their teens,if they are healthy and active, are fairly close to the ideal weight for their size and age.Why do so many of them change as they grow older?Usually because they no longer are as active as they were.
Changes often come o in the late twenties, reducing a person's physical fitness.Sluggish habits begin to develop as the individual loses his skill in running, swimming,or other healthy activities.Yet in spite of warning from nature, they continue losing their athletic figure. What a pity to change that youthful silhouette for a flabby, paunchy, unattractive appearance! "but"you say "aren't most plump people rather jolly and good-natures?"Yes,that is quite true. They are usually pleasant and easy to get along with, but they are still overweight.most of them give all manner of excuses for their fatness. But in almost every case the only reason is that they are eating more than they themselves really need.In other words, extra weight is due to extra eating.

It is surprising what just a few extra calorics a day more than more actually needed will do to a fine,youthful-looking appearance. For instance,if you take just one extra slice of bread a day above your actual needs and continue this for five years you will add 45 pounds to your figure! In ten years you will gained 90 pounds. But the trouble doesn't stop there, not by any means.

All this extra fat puts a strain on your heart, kidneys, and liver, and also on the large weight-bearing joints, such as the hips, knees, and ankles. This means your body is wearing out more rapidly, carrying around all this extra weight. Those excess calories in your diet can be deadly. You are shortening your life at your own dining table.

Strength of Character

Neither money pays, nor name, nor fame, nor learning; it is CHARACTER that can cleave through adamantine walls of difficulties.
-SWAMI VIVEKANANDA

Character is the sum total of a person's values, beliefs and personality. It is reflected in our behaviour and in your actions. It needs to be preserved more than the richest jewel in the world. To be a winner takes character. George Washington said, " I hope i shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider the most valuable of all tittle, the character of an honest man."

Most of our behaviour is habitual- Comes automatically without thinking. Our character is the sum total of our habits. If we have positive habits, then we have good character. Conversely, if we have negative habits, others will find our character lacking. Habits are a lot stronger than logic and reasoning. In the life cycle of habit formation, a habit starts by being to weak to be felt, and ends up becoming too strong to get out of. Habits can be developed by default or determination. If we don't decide what habits to form, by default we many end up with bad habits.

If you really want to judge of the character of a man, look not at his great performance. Every fool may become a hero at once time or another. Watch a man do his most common actions; those are indeed the things which will tell you the real character of a great man.
The ability to show courage in the face of adversity; show self-restraint in the face of temptation, choose happiness in the face of hurt, show character in the face of despair, and see opportunity in the face of obstacles are all valuable traits to possess. But these traits do not just appear; they are the result of constant and consistent training, our mental and physical. In the face of adversity, our behaviour, weather positive or negative can only be what we have practiced. When we practice negative traits such as Cowardice or dishonesty in small events, and hope to handle major events in a positive way, it won't happen because that's not what we have practiced.

Every work that we do, every movement of the body, every thought that we think, leaves an impression on the mind-stuff, and Even when such impressions are not obvious on the surface, they are sufficiently strong to work beneath the surface, subconsciously. What we are every moment is determined by the sum total of these impressions on the character; each man,s character is determined by the sum total of these impressions. If good impressions prevail, the character becomes good; if bad, it becomes bad. If a man continuously hears bad words, thinks bad thoughts, does bad actions, his mid will be full of bad impressions and they will influence his thought and work with out his being conscious of the fact. He will be like a machine in the hands of his impressions, and they will forces him to do evil, and that man will be a bad man; he cannot help it. Similarly, if a man thinks good thoughts and does good works, the sum total of this impressions will be good and they, in a similar manner, will force him to do good, even in spite of himself. When such is the case, a man's good character is said to be established.
-SWAMI VIVEKANANDA

Under adverse circumstances, some people break records and others break down. John F. Kennedy once said that it is a mark of character how well person behaves when things are not going well. When things are going well for us, it is easy to be logical, kind and gracious. But when things aren't going well and we're under lot of pressure, some people can't think clearly and snap at others around them, while others remain clear-headed and continue to treat others with respect.Adversity reveals a persons character.

There is a Russian saying;"A hammer shatters glass but forges steel"There is a lot of truth in the saying. Are we made of glass or steel?it is the same hammer.Just as carbon determines the quality of steel, character determines the quality of a man.

Character-building starts from infancy and goes on until death.Character does not need success. It is success.Just like gardener has to keep weeding to prevent weeds from eating the life of the garden,we need to keep building and developing our character by weeding out our faults.

Ability will get you success;character will keep you successful. someone once said,"our thoughts lead to actions, actions lead to habits, and habits form character."character leads to destiny.
The only remedy for bad habits is counter habits;all the bad habits that have left their impressions are to be controlled by good habits.Go on doing good, thinking holy thoughts continuously;that is the only way to suppress base impressions.Never say any ma is hopeless, because he only represents a character,a bundle of habits, which can be checks by new and better ones.Character is repeated habits, and repeated habits alone can reform character.

The power of natural strength

We need to learn from nature.According to scientists, the bumblebee's body is too heavy and its wingspan too small for it to be able to fly.but the bumblebee doesn't know that and it keeps flying.

We are all Gifted with some strengths
The small size of the hummingbird, weighing only a tenth of an ounce, give it the flexibility to perform complicated maneuvers, such as beating its wings 75 times a second. This enables the hummingbird to drink nectar from flowers while hovering, but it cannot soar, glide or hop.The ostrich,at 300 pounds,is the largest bird, but it can,t fly.However.its legs are so strong that it can run at up to 50 miles per hour, taking strides of 12-15 feet. There is good examples are in our Indian cricket team too.Our players like Mahindra singh dhoni and virendra sehwag both are playing unorthodox and the shots not in cricket book but still they are playing good cricket now.Dhoni is the No:1 batsman in the rankings ans sehwag have two triple centuries in test cricket and many more records, they are using their natural strengths.

when you don't know your limitations, you go out and surprise you self.In hindsight, you wonder if you had any limitations to begin with. The only limitations a person has are those that are self-imposed.Don't let education put limitations on you.believe in strengths don't in limitations.

THE BHAGVADGITA (the supreme of all guidelines to dharmas)

In Gita the subject matter is simply the realization of Brahman and the means thereto;the battle is only the occasion for its teaching. One can say,if one likes that the poet used it as an occasion because he did not look upon was as morally wrong. On reading the Mahabharta I formed quite a different impression.Vyasa wrote his supremely beautiful epic to depict the futility of war. What did the Kauravas' defeat and the Pandavas'victory avail? How many among the victors survived? What was their fate? What was the end of Kunti, mother of the Pandavas? what trace is left today of the Yadasva race?

Since the Gita's subject is not description of the battle and justification of violence,it is perfectly wrong to give much importance to these. If,moreover,it is difficult to reconcile a few of the vewrses with the idea that the Gita advocates non-violence,it is still more difficult to reconcile the teaching of the works as a whole with the advocacy of violence.

When a poet composes his work,he does not have a clear conception of all its possible implications. It is the very beauty of a good poem that it is greater than its author. The truth which poet utters in his moment of inspiration,we do not often see him following in his own life.Hence the liuves of many poets are at variance with the teaching of their poems. That the overall teaching of the Gita is not violence but non-violence is evident from the argument which begins .Voilence is simply not possible unless one i driven by anger,by ignorant love and by hatered. The Gita, one the otherhand wants us to be incapable of anger and attain to a state unaffected by the three gunas.Such a person can never feel anger.I see even now the red eyes of Arjuna every time he aimed an arrow from his bow, drawing the string as far as his ear.

But,then had arjuna's obstinate refusal to fight anything to do with non-violence?Infact,he had fought often enough in the past.On the present occasion, his reason was sudenly clouded by ignorant attachement. He did not wish to kill his kinsmen. He didnot say that he would not kill any one even if he believed that person to be wicked.Shri Krishna is momwntaly darkening of Arjuna's reason. He,therefore tells him "you have already commited violence by talking now like a wise man,you wil not learn non-violence.Having started on this courswe, you must finish the job."If a passenger travelling in a train which is running at a speen of forty miles an hour suddenly feels aversion to travelling and jumps out of the train,he will have but commited suicide. He has not in truth realized the futility of travelling as such or of travelling by train.Arjuna was in similar condition.Krishna, who believed in non-violence,could not have given from this that the Gita teaches violence or justifies war is as unwarranted as to as to argue that, since violence is some form or other is inescapable of maintaining the body in existence, dharma lies only in violence. The man discriminating intellect,on the other hand, teaches the duty of striving for deliverance from this body which exists through violence, the duty, that is ,of striving for moksha.

But whom does Dhritarashtra represent, and likewise Duryodhana,Yudhishthira or Arjuna?Whom does krishna represent? Were they historical personages/does the
Gita relate their actual doings? Is it likes that Arjuna should suddenly, with out waning ask a question whin the battle was about to commence, and that Krishna shoud recite the whole Gita in reply? And then,Arjuna, who had said that his ignorance had been dispelled, forgets what he was taught in Gita, and Krishna is made to repeat in the Anugita.

Personally,I believe Duryodhana and his supporters stand for the satanic impulses in us,Arjuna and others stand for Godward impulses. The battlefield is our body. The poet-seer,who knows from experience the problems of like, has given a faithful account of the conflct which is eternally going on within us .Shri Krishna is the Lord dweelling in everyones's heart who is ever murmuring His promptings in a pur chitta like a clock ticking in a room.If the clock of the chitta is not wound up with the key of selfpurification, the in-dwelling Lord no doubt remains where he is,but the ticking is heared no more.

I do not wish to suggest that violence has no place at all in the teaching of the Gita. The dharma which it teaches does not meand that person who has not yet awakened to the truth of non-violence may act like a coward.Anyone who fears others, accumulates possessions and indulges in sense pleasures will certainly fight with violent means but violence does not,for that reason, become justified as his dharma. There is only one dharma.Non-violence means moksha, and moksha means realising Satyanarayana. But this dharma does not under any circustances countenance running away in fear.In this world which baffles our reason, violence there will then always be.The Gita shows the way which lead us out of it,but it also says that we cannot escape it simply by running away from it like cowards .anyone who prepares to run away would do better, instead,to kill and be killed.

I am sure no one doubts that god,who is omnipotent,is,and must be ,the Creator, the Preserver and the destroyer of the Universe. He who creates has certainly the right to destroy.Even so,He does not kill, for He does nothing.God is so merciful He does not violate the law that every creature that is born will die one day.If HE were to follow His fancies and whims,Where should we be?

Why the injunction against sudras studing the Vedas?

For understanding the meaning of shastras, one must have a well-cultivated moral sensibility and experience in the practise of their truths. The injunction against sudras studing the vedas is not altogther unjustified. A sudra,in other words,a person without moral education, with out sense and without knoledge, would completely misread the shastras. No person, even if grown up in age,is qualified to understand difficult problems in algebra without preparqation. Before anyone can undestand such problems,he must have studied the elements of the subject. How would 'Aham Brahmasmi'souns in the mouth of a lustful man?what meaning,or distorted meaning, would he not attach to it?

Hence, anyone who offers to interpret the shastras must have observed the prescribed disciplined in his life.A mechanical observance of these disciplines is as futile as it is difficult. The shastras regard it essential that one shoul have a guru.

Guide To Meditation

What is meditation and when and how did it become popular among the masses?

Our sages in ancient times were very much aware of the relations between the mind and body. ' Healthy mind in a healthy body'- they followed this rule. They knew that a peaceful mind was very much needed to maintain good health. So they thought and thought over the problem, did research and ultimately concluded that meditation was stage way out to get rid off the old age sufferings and death the efficacy of meditation was clear to them and they practised it. But the practice of meditation was largely confined to the saints who lived mostly in ashrams where prefect Peace reigned and there were no disturbances. The public in large went about their daily chorus and had nothing to do with meditation.

The popularity of meditation is of recent origin in India and in the Western countries. The west was materialistic in outlook. It went after worldly pleasures. But did that give it peace and tranquility? In their search for mental peace they took refuse in drugs .No doubt those drugs made them forget their problems for sometime and even elevated their spirits but the effect was temporary. Soon they got addicted to them and could not live without them. Besides, the subsequent doses had to be larger in quantity. There were side effects too.

The credit to make meditation popular among the masses goes to the teachers who studied this ancient art, learnt it fully and then taught it to others. Today we find there is hardly a big city in which meditation classes are not held. We will be doing great injustice to Mahesh Yogi if his name is not mentioned here. The Maharshi is one of those who carried this art to the West with his 'transcendental meditation'. Today he attracts thousands of men and women and has made meditation popular among the youth in the West.

Meditation in simple language means Dhyana concentrating on one single object with a single devoted mind. Meditation means control over mind. In raja yoga it is defined as a 'continuous flow of one perception'. Some call it 'freedom from objective thoughts'. Some learned men even say a stage is reached in meditation when mind has no thoughts. Concentration on one object with mind leads to meditation and meditation culminates in samadhi,i.e mind is thought less and one develops intuition and the glory of the spirit is before him. Meditation is a way to go near god as in it one thinks constantly of God and a stage comes when he loses his identity. In fact meditation is in itself an end and not a means as all prayers, rituals, austerities, study of scriptures lead a person to the practice of meditation and through it he communicates with God.

God has offered this human body to realize that he is the ultimate goal to be achieved, but man does not bother to ponder over it, it is too much absorbed in mundane desires and worldly pleasures and ultimately is perished. Therefore it is necessary to free the mind form objective thoughts, form thoughts of sense - objects. Once this has been achieved mind gives inspiration to the yogi to have highest thoughts and eternal peace.

Meditation in common man's perspective.

Just sit and observe your thoughts processes. The mind is eternally restless, compulsively flitting from one object, person to person, and place to place, most of them related to your personal life and problems. If you observe the functioning of your mind, you may notice that your are talking to your self. Most of your self-talk revolves around your personal problems. It could be about your family or profession, your happiness and achievements, your problems and sufferings, etc. Your consciousness which is a stream of thoughts and feelings, will be totally saturated with your personal problems.

As long as the mind is steeped in such thoughts and feelings there can be no real peace and tranquility. Yo experience greater amount of stress on your life. Stress and tension will diminish the power of your brain also. Unless stress is manged properly there is now way to improve the functioning of your brain.

One of the best ways to manage stress is to practise meditation which is a process through which you shift your consciousness form your self to a state of thoughtlessness or "no mind".To put it simply , meditation helps the practitioner forget his self through a variety of techniques and keep his mind blank or free of thoughts. The moment the mind takes itself away from the self, it derives supreme joy and happiness.

Meditation techniques are especially good at balancing the "weather pattern" within the brain that enhances sharp thinking. This , perhaps, happens by enhancing the brain's ability to fire neurons in smooth, coordinated, organised patterns. Meditation improves mental power.

Here are some mechanisms by which this happens:

  • Meditation slows brain metabolism. This allows brain neurons to function more efficiently and use less energy. It promotes mental power with out side effects.

  • Meditation can decrease blood levels of lactate. Excess lactate is known to cause anxiety and insomnia.

  • Meditation increases levels of dehydroepiandrosterone(DHEA)-a marker of brain vitality.

  • Meditation decreases blood pressure as well as cholesterol levels. This may lessen the risk of arteriosclerosis that might other wise block the arteries and limit blood flow to the brain.

  • Meditation In Practise

    A few meditation practices are

  • Simple Meditation :

  • Just sit in a meditative posture for about 15 to 20 minutes, making your subconscious believe that your are 'meditation'. The main purpose is to acquaint you with self-discipline to sit quietly for a given length of time. This is a preliminary step for the practise of other types of meditation.

  • Sabdha Meditation :

  • Sabdha means sound. This meditation can be practised at any time, in any place and in any posture. Just focus your attention on the sounds you are able to hear. This can be practised even in a moving bus or train. Travel confines you to a particular seat. You can consider this an excellent opportunity to meditate. The drone of the moving bus or the chug-chugging of the train itself could be the object of meditation. Concentrate your entire attention on the sounds. When your thought slips off, bring it back and be aware of the sound only and nothing else.

  • Chitta Meditation :

  • Chitta means consciousness(stream of thoughts and feelings). This can also be practised in any place, at any time and in any posture. In this form your are supposed to observe your thoughts and feelings. Do not attempt to control or direct your thoughts.. You act only as an objective observer of each thought, feeling and perception, etc that is being screened on your mental horizon. When a thought or feeling arises, simply observe it until it passes out of your visual space. Then you may wait for the next thought or feeling and observe it. Don't attempt to explore, follow-up or associate with any of the thoughts or feelings that are passing through your mind.

  • Trataka Meditation :

  • Keep an object before you, anything of your choice. Visualise it with closed eyes. Your thoughts should be continuously saturated with the object visualised. When it goes away form your consciousness. Apart from arresting the wavering mind, this type of meditation will also improve the power of your brain by developing concentration ,imagination, will power and eye sight.

  • Zen Meditation :

  • This can be practised in any comfortable and restful posture . Focus on your breathing. When some other thoughts intrudes, push it aside. While being attentive to the breathing process, start counting your breath with every exhalation- one, two, three, etc. Your total attention is gently and firmly fixed on this one action of counting only.

But sequential counting becomes automatic and your thoughts would drift away from the focus on your breathing process. To counteract this, the counting may be varied slightly : count up to fifty and then count backward to one.

In Zen, the trainees are required to be aware of their breathing processes all the time. Since breathing is a continuous unbroken process you can concentrate no-stop on it until the end of the scheduled time.

If the breathing is deep and rhythmic a sort of vibration is created in the body, which will tone up your nervous system and thereby enhance brainpower.

Meditation should be treated as way of life rather that a mere ceremony to be performed piously at an appointed time. Efforts should be made to occupy the mind fully with pure and positive thoughts. The mind should attend to only one thing at a time. Instead of brooding over personal problems, concentrate on some constructive activities that bring some beneficial results to humanity large. The mind should be saturated with theme " Love for all and hatred towards none ". No event , however adverse, should disturb the mind. It should always be peaceful, tranquil and serene. This state without tension and stress is very conductive to maintaining excellent health.

    Mind power

Mind is the world's most magical  tool ! I am not talking about any dangerous things that destroy man from outside. But I am talking about the great tool inside us " The Mind".Mind is truly an amazing tool.Anything you want to have do, or be -your mind can make it happen.

If you don't use this tool properly it will cause more harm than good. Mind is like a powerful fasting moving vehicle. When we born the mind starts it journey with us. If we not properly use it may deviate its path and wander around. This may result in great dangers like , Lack of confidence, pessimism, inferiority complex, superiority complex, indecision, forgetfulness, lack of will power, lack of enthusiasm, unnecessary fear,Frustration, Lack of system,Anxiety, depression, tension, shyness and diffidence and aimlessness. To avoid all these dangers we have to use the mind in right way? Some of us may ask that Is it possible to use it in Proper way? And what I can say is it really depends one's conditions. For whom the mind is wandering may say that controlling the mind is highly impossible. But it easy for the creative people who have the following qualities like definite aim, optimism, self confidence, concentration, will power, Imagination, enthusiasm, charming personality, self control, friendship tolerance, mind control. Many of us may say that when have these much qualities there is no need to worry about any thing like controlling the mind. The bigger question what to do to improve the above qualities and to control mind.To do that You have to give attention to the Mind and aware of it's every movement. It is a tricky thing to have awareness about your mind activities. Because your mind had more control over you than yours on it.
So for better awareness and attention one can practice "Meditation" ,"Pranayama",Tarak. These techniques helps one to get control over the most dangerous and amazing tozol in one's body "The Mind".
Mind is the Instrument of the soul(spirit and needs purification and integration. Those who have known it have conquered even nature and changed the course of history. Every human being has within him the supreme spirit and can become Krishna or Buddha because he is a part of that great Almighty. The only condition is he should realize that and make efforts to communicate with him.

    Meditation(mukti from time and space)

Meditation is simply being in the present moment. The present moment frees the individual to change, explore new patterns, pleasures, and possibilities. It is a power way to heal isolation.

There are many ways to meditate. No one way is best for everyone. One thing common to all forms of meditation is the art of paying attention. We do a lot of different things at the same time.In order to meditate first pay attention breathing. Breathing is central to every aspect of meditation training. It is wonderful place to focus the mind. Breath is a rich experience. It connects us with the whole universe. When you try to pay attention to breathing, you notice that the mind starts wandering. The wandering of the mind is a normal state of mind. From the meditative perspective the normal state of mind is severely suboptimal. It is more asleep than awake. Its energy is frittered away in thoughts of past and future. It is rarely in the present moment. Human beings have a capacity of shifting their awareness wherever they wish. Normally individuals who have not been trained to meditate keep their awareness on the mind which has the habit of wandering.Cultivating and developing a capacity to keep the awareness in the present moment instead of the wandering mind is all what meditation is about. When you start focusing your awareness in the present moment instead of the wandering mind is all what meditation is about. When you start focusing your awareness on breathing, you begin to ride the waves of breath, in and out. At this moment, the awareness begins to wander to the thoughts. Willingly, gently and kindly bring it back to the breath. If it wanders a million times, just lasso it back to breath a million times. This will train the mind to settle at one place. When the mind is thus cultivated, you begin to feel that you are in the present moment-time slows down and might even seem to stop. You are in a Now, that is continually unfolding. The moment you are in touch with the present moment, almost everything will become more vivid and alive. The calm experienced in meditation brings about penetrative insight(into our experience in the present moment). From this insight comes greater understanding, and therefore greater freedom to conduct our lives. The way we feel would lead to greater wisdom and happiness. The deep physiological relaxation which occurs in meditation is in itself healing. There is an access to deep inner resources for healing,, the mind, operating more effectively and helping to develop strategies, making sensible adaptive choices under pressure while coping with stress. One feels more engaged in life.

Meditation is a way of living which introduces us to that other part of our consciousness which is the common ground of all humanity. There we are not individuals; we are not separate entities with psychological content; where each one of us is actually the rest of humanity. As Guru of Dalai Lama explained, "anger, jealousy, hatred and aggression" thrive on concept of our inherent separate existence. Now all the recent researches in physics reveal that our separate existence is an illusion even if it is a stubborn one.In meditation we experience the emptiness of the concept of separate existence. This frees us from the qualities that separate us, and it generates in us compassion, love and altruism which unite us.

You may like this related article take a look at it.

Liberation( The Intense Desire to be Free)

Freedom is the anger of the Soul - Moshe dayan

All of us are born with freedom those expect where people affected by wars and terrorists.. The only bound is your Ego, you are thinking of you as you are now. But that's not you and you are limit less, when ever you think beyond your ego you can become free from all.

Take an example of an eagle who was accidentally breed with a flock of chickens. It was hatched in the chicken farm,. It lived it life with chicken and it thought it also a chicken and start to doing all the things that a chickens do for living. Since she thought she also a chicken .One day it saw an eagle flying above the sky and said I want fly like that bird. All the chickens said it is majestic Eagle which flies high above the sky and said that your a chicken and you can' fly like an Eagle. So the eagle thinking it as a chicken never tried to fly like an eagle and lived like a chicken and dead like chicken .
Even ego is like a chicken which prevent you like an eagle remember the fact that scientifically the bumble bee can't fly; but flies because it doesn't know that it can't fly.

    Dharma(for real duty of a man )

A man should save money for bad days but woman should be protected even if it takes the money saved. But for self preservation, the money and the woman should be sacrificed,if required. But in case of family,to protect family or Nation you have to sacrifice yourself.

A man should not make a place his home where there are no;prosperous people, soldiers, scholars,a government, river and physicians. These things are must to live in a place to make home you can ensure much better future there.

A real brother is one stands by;in the period of grave illness,in times of misfortune, during famines or invasions by enemy,in royal court and inn death. He will stick through thick and thin.If you are a brother you should follow the above mentioned things to be a real brother and complete person.

The one who runs after an uncertain object leaving the certain one, does not get any .He loses the both. A complete person should think about his project before starting it and don't take miscalculated ricks take only calculated ones.

A wise man must marry a girl of high breed even if she be ugly to look at.He should not fall for a girl of low upbringing however beauteous she may be. The best course is to marry in the family of equal status. Their thought patterns are just a like .

Don't ever trust; the beasts with claws or sharp horns, rivers, the armed persons, women and the members of the royal families. They all are unexpectedness .

If there is nectar in poison ,accept it ,If there is precious metal of object in filth, retrieve it.If a low bredes man has some good knowledge, wisdom, art or quality, imbibe it.If a woman born to a family of disrepute turns out to be a lady of high qualities, possess such a gem. The quality of an end product is what really matters.
Don't speck falsehood, starting a work without giving it any consideration or though, daredevilry, deceitful behavior, foolish acts, greed, impurity and cruelty;these are things basic to the nature of the women. With proper education you can overcome these troubles.

the rue son is who obedient to his father,a true father is one who looks after his sons, similarly true friend is one who is trustworthy .

avoid these friendship; A friend who talks flatteringly sweet t6hings overtly but covertly tries to harm should be gotten rid of with out any delay./He is like a pot that is filled with poison but topped with a cream to deceive.

What plan you have thought of in your mind should not come on your tongue.Contemplate and rethink over it,keeping it guarded.Put the idea or plan into action wroth out voicing it .Revealing the plan shall invite suggestions and criticisms on it which can dampen your spirits.

Those parents are worst enemies of their children;who do not teach letters and educate them.Because an uneducated person is spurned in the assembly of the learned people. He is total misfit as a crane is in the flock of stately swans.

A man must read and study a shloka everyday. If it is not possible, read half of it,or a part of it or at least a word .Never let any day go without some study of a written word. One should make his day fruitful by doing good work and study. One should continue education to the end .

A wise man's duty;to marry his daughter in high family,to give high education to sons,do introduce the enemy to some fatal addiction and to get his friend engaged in some noble task.

Don't do the too much.Too much beauty got sita kidnapped, too much ego got Ravana killed and too much charity got Raja Bali in deep trouble.Too much of anything is bad.Stay away from too much.

Indulge son up to the fifth year of his age, cane and rebuke can be used for the next ten years,But when he enters 16th year of his age, then on he must be treated as a friend by the father.

A person who has no faith, no wealth, no love and no salvation, goes on taking birth and dying without any purpose.

A man must quit a religion that does not preach love and kindness.similarly one should leave a teacher who has no knowledge to impart,a woman who has short temper and relatives who have no love to give.

A wise person must always keep in mind the following thoughts being plundered over,How is he the time treating me?How many true friends I have made? How is the place I live at? How much do I earn and how do I spent, Who am I and What I am capable of?

Problems come to every one.The wise ones Rightly are afraid of crisis and troubles when they appear on the horizon. But when they arrive one should get up and boldly face them.

You can win over; a greedy by offer of money,a proud person by cowering before him,a fool by agreeing with him and a scholar by speaking the truth.Clever man must concentrate his attention on his gaol just like a crane .When it spots a fish it stands iimobile, eyes fixed on the target.

A wise person must not reveal on others;the loss of money, the deep wound of heart, scandal of the family, the incidents of getting cheated or insulted

Don't not be too simple and too straight.Go to the jungle to see how the smooth and straight trees have been cut down mercilessly but the crooked ones stand unharmed.

A real happy is a man whose mind is at peace and the heart is content.Running around to amass wealth and money can't give happiness.

    Articles about yoga (Bramacharya)

Bramacharya is not only sexual continence but it is actually actions to attain Brahman(divine).

"To live and move in Brahman (God) is the real brahmacharya. Continence is very helpful to achieve that end. But so long as you identify yourself with the body you can never escape sex-thought and distinction. It is only when you realizethat you are the formless, Pure Consciousness that sex-distinctiondisappears for good and there is brahmacharya - effortless, spontaneous.

One of the Main path to attain Brahman(divine) is kriya yoga. Kriya yoga has direct connection wiht the sadhana of Raja yoga which is concentration and meditation just as Karma yoga has with the yoga of spiritualising all actons. Every activity becomes directed towards the divine and every activity, instead standing on the way as obstacle towads God, actually becomes a means of linking a devotee with God and becomes a process of worship. This is Karma yoga, the yoga of spiritualising activities.

    Power of enquiry

Jnana yoga is the yoga which makes use of the rational power through intellect to cleave through the illusion of appearances which takes one to the reality which is hidden beyond appearances. thus it at a way of utilising the power of investigation, observance, enquiry and analysis.

Here reasoning becomes the means of liberating oneself from illusion which is the result of non-discrimination and making proper enquiry regarding the nature of things we perceive. We blindly take them for granted and get ourselves involved in them.
This evokes in the seeker the active power of enquiry and out of this philosophical enquiry, right discrimination dawns. Suddenly, one begines to see that things are not just things. Some thing is eternal and others are non-eternal. So one begins to discriminate, between the permanent and the impermanent, appearance and the reality, eternal and the non-eternal, the self and non self.
Right enquiry leads to right discrmination and from discrimination comes out right knowlege. Then , one begins to realize that some are just appearance and changeeable. It is a folly to run after shadows. Thus discrimination leads to dispassion which tends to being towards the quest after reality, quest after the eternal . This is Jnana yoga.

    Discipling mind(controling mind)

Similarly, Raja yoga makes use of the powers of the mind and the will. They purposedfully overcome the basic tendency of the mind to go outward and then control and overcome it fully and divert the flow of thoughts within. They make it turn inward, arrest the restless mind and direct comcentrated mind towards the ideal that is to be realised.

Then the mind is directed towards the ideal through continous practise, is made to flow in an unbroken steam of concentrated thought upon a single idea. When it reaches the state, it is characterised by the state of meditation and the meditation becomes deep and intense.

Thus last trace of non-discriminating knowledge of oneself gets erased and one attains the state o pure discriminating knowledge when one knows of oneself as being truly distinct and different and apart from all the objects of perception, all that is prakriti, all that is non-self.
We do have knowledge but it is not precise. When one reaches the state of highest concentration and meditation knowlege becomes clear. And then one develops discrimination-discrimination between the supreme seer and all that is seen including one's own body, senses, thughts and all intellectual process. One becomes sure of oneself by discriminating oneself as apart from those that go to make the prakriti, in one's own personality. This is the ultimate result of Raja yogic practice.
It is the path of concentration and mediation. But the prerequisite for concentraion and mediation is changing the flow of the mind inward. As long as it is outgoing, it is not possible to concentrate at all. There fore , absorbtion, withdrawing the mind within, is an essential aspect of yoga and with this absorptiion of the mid commences of the inner yoga and it is called pratyahara.

    Withdrawal

Pratyahara is withdrawal. We have already seen how Raja yoga helps in concentration and control of the mind. Tapas aids in concentration, by eliminating rajas and tapas.Tapas aids in concentration, by eliminating rajas and tapas.Tapas forcefully restrains the senses. As long as the mind is a slave of senses and is bound up with them, tendency is to flow alng with them.Senses are always active as that is their dharma. It is the natural tendency of the eye to open and see.IF there is some sound, it immediately wants to see what is happening there. Similarly, it is the invertrate tendency of the ear to hear. All the senses follow their dharma. Each one follows its tendency, and the mind also flows along wiht the senses. It does not want to remain without chage. It does like monotony.

One has tow options here: Either he has to stop the outer movemnt of the senses by forcibly restraining them, or he has to talk to the mind and make it understand that its close connection and realtionship with the senses is not good for it, that it is not going to bring it happiness and that it will only take it into more trouble.

    Two options

Tapas does the first thing. It forcefully curbs the senses; depriving the senses from fulfilling their urges. Svadhyaya does the second thing it goes on talking to the mind. It puts wisdom innto the mind and the attracts it to the higher ideal. It places before it in glowing and thrillig terms the inspiring examples of lives of saints, the lives of spiritula seekers, those who have gone before on the path and the wonderful result of such turning away from the senses and moving towars the spiritual. So, in glowing terms, the beauty, the grandeur and the glory of the attainment are put before the mind and thus within the mind is created a new desire for higher things.

Thus a strong aspiration is created in the mind by putting before it the grandeur and the glory of the supreme attainment before which all sense experience pales into insignificance, so much so that the mind feels to give them up as of no consequnce. In this way, the mind is presented with tremendous attraction of the glorious goal and is made to turn away from its alliance with the senses. This is done through svadhyaya.
    Constant conflict
Tapas puts the axe to the senses and svadhyaya does the work of persuading the mind, holding before it the grandeur, glory and beauty of the attainment, putting wisdom into it. These are higher processes. Gradually the senses can be discplined to give up their inverterate habit of going towards ojects and follow this new nature that the mind has developed. At this tage there is a constant conflict going on. The mind has desire for the goal but the senses continue to have their old inverterate tendencies and habits.
It would be advisable for devotees to make the senses their friend. Make the senses also take on to new habits. And this training and discipline take upon themselves a new habit following the awakened mind. The mind which has now acquired discrimination and accepted to turn its direction from the world of objects to the world of God, and if the senses also begin to follow the mind, then one is rewarded .
This state is brought about by the d
iscipline of Pratipakshabhavan. A happy analogy is given by the commentator of the sutras to bring home this new relationship between the mind and the senses. So far the senses were dragging the mind out but here we have a new situation when the mind drags the senses in. Mind now begins to put its influence upon the senses. And the senses are prepared, readily and willingly to follow the mind.

    Controlling Rajas

Asan is a technique. You sit and try to train the body into a state of perfect stillness, motionlessness and this is powerful method of gaining complete control over the rajas in your system. Because, already by yama and niyama, the tamas has been well-controlled.It has been overcome and the entire nature of the aspirant has become purified. He follows strictly the path of good conduct and noble character and his daily life is spiritualises by saucha, santosha, tapas and isvarapranidhana.

Rajas is the next formidable 'foe' to overcome. Asana and Pranayama effectively overcome rajas.Asan, especially, is made to overcome rajas and then facilitate and taking up of steading and arresting of the prana. Hatha yoga is also a valauble means to support the practice of Raja yoga. Because it has orecisely this effect of eliminating tamas, controlling rajas and increasing sattva. But in Raja yoga, the asana is intended to maintain single meditative pose steadily and the same time fully relaxed and easy. It should not be a strain upon the one who is sitting. There should be not tension. It should not impose any type of strain.
Steadiness and comfort are brought into the aphorism that refers to asana-sthiram-sukham-asanam. Sthiram mean steady and sukham means easy and comfortable. The main thing is to observe to keep the spinal column straight, head, trunk and the neck in a straight line. If this is done properly, then the asana becomes very light and easy. Ther comes a perfect balancing of the centre of gravity of the whole body and the spinal column rests upon its base. Also by sitting straight your ches is expanded. If you bend forward the ches becomes contracted. So by sitting straight, the ches expansion takes away your mind from breath. Other wise there is difficulty in breathing.
There is and interesting relation between pose and mental condition. In different mental conditions, unconsciously the body assumes different poses. A condition of positive emotion and joy is always expressed with a particular pose, whereas the negative expression of sorrow is always expressed in contracting the body and bending down of the body.

    Prana and Mind

There are several kinds of Pranayama in Hatha yoga, where as in Raja yoga, pranyama is mainly concerned with the retention of breath. This , ofcourse happens to have an option of the three different modes. You can inhale and retain breaht; you can exhale and retain; and you can suddenly retain the breath without any reference to inhalation and exhalation. These are the three modes. Patanjali has written briefly on all the three essential points in the retention of brath. Prana and mind have a direct connection and all mental activity is supported by cetain pranic activity. If the mind is very active , Prana also vibrates intensely and if Prana vibrates very intensely, mind is put into a state of excitement. Therefore, the bringing Into the prana a certain harmony and balance and stability as also the same effect upon the mind, can be done through Pranayama. (Special pranayama of Kriya yoga taught in achutha yoga).

prana is subtle and inward. It pervades the body from the top of the head to the tip of your toe. The regulation control and checking of the breath of the nostril is called
Svasa that has been mentioned in pranyama.
The mind affects the body and therfore, it is the mental state they try to treat the mind except in certain cases of extreme impact of the mind upon the body, whre through hysteria vaious physical symptoms are brought about. Then they put the patient in the hands of psychologist or psychiatrist. Otherwise, they take recourse either to sedatives or tranquillisers which for the time being make the mind go into a state of inactivity. Then there is a temporary relief of the physical symptom. But once again when the mind starts activity, it goes back again into the state.
Whatever the doctors say all the physical and mental conditions have the corresponding pranic pattern. Every physical and mental condition is generated and suppoerted by specific pranic state in one or other are. This is hwat is responsible for communicating a mental state of the physical level and for translating it into a praticular manifestation there. Even so, physical state also in some case , have been trasmitted to the mind and it has affected the mind.

    Yama and Niyama

If one becomes absolutely established in ahimsa or noninjury, he acquires the power to overcome all enmity. To that person, no one can come wiht anger or hatred. No one can raise the hand of violence. Before him all enmity ceases. If a Person who has become perfectly established in ahimsa goes into the jungle, the moment wild animals come to him, they will become docile. They can not manifest their violent propensity. That is the result or the effect of acquirng perfection of ahimsa.

Perfection in truth is Satya. It Gives one Vak-Siddhi. If one is absolutely established in truthfulness, then after a period of 12 years of such perfect adherence to truth, whatever the person utters will come true. And to explain it, Patanjali gives a very interesting form to the sutras, He says such a one acquires the power of acheiving the fruits of action with out acting. If he curses, the curse turns out true.
Bramacharya brings about super human power in the individual, mental as well as physical. If one completely gives up the desire for anything, that thing follows him, as a shadow follows a person. The yogi who has established himself in the total renunciation of greed, acquires the knowledge of past, present and future. When he is established in absolute cleanliness, both outer and inner, he becomes fit to attain God-vision. Now he is fully qualifiled and confidently carry on his struggle on concentration and meditation.

    Supreme Happiness

Indescribable joy and supreme happiness come through the practice of contentment. The above mentioned are all actions to attain Brahman(divine).Through the power of austerity, one's senses become keen and intellect becomes sharp. Through absorbing study of spiritual scriptures, the yogi can have a vision of his aspect of his personal God. When he carries on his studies, deeply and regularly, he can have a vision of god. If Yogi practices asan and pranayama then he becomes fit to enter into the inner aspect of yoga, the withdrawl of the mind from the outer objects which is a dispcipline to be cultivated throughout the walking hours

    One Man show

A human comes into this world alone. Alone does he get the reward or punishment for good deeds or sins respectively. And alone he departs for heavenly abode.

A man is responsible for his own acts. He can't blame anyone else for whatever befalls him. One negotiates his life himself. Thus a man must act very carefully knowing fully well that no one will share his burden. If he does noble deeds he will earn all the rewards. No one will take away anything. Similarly, no one else can borrow your pain, this life is a one man show.

    Complete education

Volumes of books have been written on the importance of education in life. The essence of all those writing and views is that education means the fostering of the personality through the unhampered development of innate qualities of a human beings. It also means the awakening of intelligence and development of an integral life.It aims to adjust the rhythm of the individuals life with the rhythm of the society. The adjustment involves strengthening of character and consolidation of the moral fibre .
Today education in India,or anywhere appears to be at variance with the standards.
Education provides for the resources developments of an individual in three different dimensions.Primly resourcefulness in a person to function effectively in a family, community, society,or a nation in addition it prepares the person to become a responsible adult to continue progeny by becoming a worthy parent.simultaneously with both, the person gets ready and equips them self with desire competences to work as a professional.Education is necessary to every human being,if he were to understand and solve the problems of life successfully so,Mahatma Gandhi was in favor of such kind of education which will develop each and every aspect of a personality. Thus education, according to Gandhi, should make men and women not only literate but self supporting as well that is capable of earning their own lively hood.
"Hurry up,hurry up,its getting late to school get up ,get up,brush, wash, dress gulp and bite and be ready to board the school -bus !look there ! your friends is already with his bulging bag !collect yours ,stuff them into rucksack .Go,go,go!" This is the trend in every home nowadays. This type of pressurized education gives neurotic disorder. The competition increases every day ,the sacks get bulkier, and oppressive not only physically but also mentally, our nervous system is conditioned to such a punishing scheduled poor prospects respite.Quite inadvertently,we hurt ourselves .We hurt the helpless s too to conform to such a standardized schooling,we would only be producing robots than healthy human beings!Education which is suppose to be enriching, constructive, creative and a dialog's process becomes monotonous and mechanical and he reduces to Ampere merchandise. In a system that lays so much emphasis on achievement rather than on developing the true potential of a student, who is to be really blamed?they lay too much stress on content and too little on in depth understanding,Mindless commercialization of education should be stopped.
Educative knowledge had to faces negative and positive .Those people using knowledge to destruct society is a negative side, like terrorist training. There their trained to kill innocent people for their foolish believes. Is it real education or ideal education?.Finally we can conclude that ideal education means which provides, fostering of personality, effective functions, develop each and every aspect of a personality, self supporting, constructive creativeness, developing true potential with effectively and efficiently.

How to excute an idea by using willpower.

Faith is indeed the greatest miracle-working power imaginable.Faith never fails a person;we fail when we give up on our faith. If we cut any one of the five phases of our faith,we will disappointed with the ultimate results.

Idea is like a seed.If a seed is not planted,it can't bear fruit. But planting is just first phase.Unless the seed is watered,it won't sprout.Sprouting is the second phase.Once the seed is planted and watered, growth will begin. But unless the plant is nourished,it will not reach full mutaurity. It will not blossom,Which is the third phase. Then when the buds are beginning to form,if we proper climatic ci\conditions do not exist, the stalk will produce no fruit. There will be no ear on the corn.Bearing fruit is the fourth phase of they cycle.o\Only if each phase is properly nurtured can a seed reach full maturity. Finally, when the fruit is ripe,it must be harvested at the precisely correct time,or winds, rain, or over ripeness can cause it drop to the ground, where it will rot. Even as there are five phases to fruit-bearing,from planting to the seed to harvest there are five phases to full cycle of executing an idea.
    The nesting phase
The first phase of faith is the nesting phase.that's when an idea drops the mind as an egg is deposited in the bird's nest.If the faith never gets beyond the nesting phase. The unhatched egg rots in the nest. The idea phases through the mind with out being taken seriously.Be careful in your ideas in the first phase to use your willpower to convert it usefully.
    The testing phase
Faith's second phase is the testing phase. No person plunges recklessly and irresponsibly ahead with every idea that moves through his brain.Ideas must be tested by asking the questions that rise out of your own value system.Decision making is easy if there are no contradictions in your value system. A positive idea implies questions like.'Is this really necessary?" "Is it really a human need-filing idea?" "Can it be inspiring to others?" Answer these questions and go ahead with your idea.It is the second phase of the execution of an idea.
    The investing phase.
The third phase of the faith is the investing phase, the point at which you make a public commitment. You commit time,money,energy,and-possibly the most valuable products of all-pride and prestige to the publicly announces project.Unfortunately many people let their faith die when they fa 8l to put up the risk capital.this is the third phase of an execution of an idea be care full and go ahead with your willpower.
There will never be another now-you ave to make the most of today. There will never be another you-make most of yourself.
    The arresting phase

You've put your name on line .You've started your run.now problems attack you. Troubles block you. Defeat seems certain.You begin to think you've bitten off more than you can hew. You wonder if you've made a terrible mistake with your investment. The arresting phase is the test for Your willpower and your ability .Belive in Your ability and go through all the means to end .It will give you the ultimate result.Don't think about the result think about the means and do the right things for it the result should come itself.
    The cresting phase
Yes,the crowning phase of the faith is the cresting phase. The mountaintop is scaled!success finally is achieved!
